With a build up that’s lasted a clean year and half, Sabyasachi’s eponymous house of fashion launches its collection with Swedish fashion giant H&M tomorrow–making him the first Indian designer to do so.

It turned out to be better than I expected. It truly was a perfect collaboration because each party brought something distinct to the table.

I brought my expertise in embroidery and prints and colour, and they brought their expertise in sourcing and production, and silhouettes and tailoring. Marketing was a joint idea from both sides.

In some cases, H&M led and I followed–and vice versa. I think we’re very proud of what we have achieved.
