Apple will Develop the Car itself so that the EV launch will not be delayed: Company Announcement

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is developing its own electric vehicle without the help of any other automaker. According to Mile Economic Daily (via Macromers), the iPhone maker is currently selecting final part suppliers.

Earlier, the tech giant had approached BMW, Hyundai, Nissan and Toyota for information on joint development and contract production agreements. (Apple will develop the car itself so that the EV launch will not be delayed)

Apple has recently gone through the process of sending Requests for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) to global automobile parts manufacturers.

Apple recently hired two former Mercedes engineers with extensive experience in vehicle manufacturing, steering, dynamics, software and project management.

These engineers are now working as product design engineers in Apple's Special Projects Group, who have been hired for Apple cars.

Apple's reliable analyst Ming-chi Kuo had earlier claimed that the launch of the Apple car is not likely to take place by 2025-2027.

Kuo said in a research note that the specifications of the Apple car have not been finalized yet. It would not be a surprise if the vehicle launch deadline is extended to 2028 or later.

In addition, Doug Field, the current head of Apple's electric car project, is leaving the company for Ford. Ford has appointed Field as the company's chief advanced technology and embedded systems officer.
