The price of an Egg reached Rs 7:


He said that with the increasing demand for eggs, the retail price of eggs has gone up to Rs 6 to 7 in different areas. Experts said that eggs are rich in protein.

Why the consumption of eggs increased:


OP Choudhary, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Poultry and Milk, said that in the last few months, a trend has been observed in the consumption of eggs. 


Another ministry official said that it is difficult to estimate the increase in the monthly consumption of eggs. He said that the per capita annual egg intake in India increased from 79 eggs to 86 in 2019-20 as compared to 2018-2019.


Demand for branded eggs increased:


Abhishek Negi, Co-Founder, Gurugram-based Startup Egoose said that we have seen a huge jump in the demand for branded and Eggose eggs in the last few months since the start of the second wave of the Covid pandemic. 


The business of the company has grown with a 100% monthly growth rate in the last few months. Branded eggs are sold at more expensive rates and cost around Rs 10 or more per egg.
