Google Meet Launched a New Feature, the Host will be able to Stop the participant's Audio/Video

Google has announced that now during a meeting on Google Meet, the host can mute the participant and can also turn off his camera during the meeting.

The thing to note here is that even after muting the host, participants cannot turn it on even if they want. Before this, Google launched the feature to mute all participants simultaneously at the beginning of the year.

Under this feature, the host could simultaneously mute all the participants using laptop and desktop devices. The new feature of Google is an update of the old feature.

With the updated feature, now the host can mute the noisy participant. Earlier such participants used to unmute themselves, but under this update, participants will not be able to unmute themselves.

This feature is called Audio and Video Lock, and it will lock any participant's audio or video until the host decides to unlock them. Google has explained in its post why this feature is important. “Through this feature, the person hosting the meeting can control the meeting according to their own preferences.

This allows the host to decide how many opportunities to give to which participant. This feature will be available on phones running Android OS P or newer version or iOS 12 or newer version. Apart from this, users will have to update their Gmail or Meet app to the latest updated version.
